Here’s the good news, every year the price of high-end security cameras and camera recorders becomes more and more affordable. The bad news is, there are so many products out there it is becoming harder and harder to choose the right camera solution for you.
To Help you find the the best affordable cameras for your business, I collected a short list of cameras, recording devices (DVR’s) and peripherals I have found in 2009 that seems to give my customers the quality they are looking for in a camera system.
Digital Video Recorder (DVR)
One of the best deals in 2009 for DVR’s is the new Q-See 8-Cam DVR with 320Gigs of hard drive space and mobile phone surveillance (meaning you can watch your cameras from 95% of mobile phones in use today) and of course it is viewable from any Internet connected computer.
This 16 channel DVR features remote Internet monitoring and mobile surveillance through cell phones with WinCE and Symbian OS on 3G networks. The H.264 compression allows for maximum storage and little loss of quality, while recording video on to the pre-installed 320GB hard drive. It can simultaneously display live footage, record, playback, connect via network, and back-up without any recording loss. Connect to a television or VGA monitor and view up to 16 cameras at the same time. Q-See solutions are the perfect answer for keeping your family secure, protecting your assets against theft, or managing your staff and resources more effectively. This easy to install complete security package has everything you need to setup a secure home or business. With Q-See, surveillance can be handled remotely & worldwide. Installation is a breeze since the system is self contained and works great right out of the box.
PTZ (Pan, Tilt, Zoom) Camera
PTZ cameras use to cost thousands per unit, which made it cost prohibited to use. We’ve all seen them in cop and spy movies were someone zooms in from down the street to view a license plate hundreds of feet away. You can also zoom and move the camera 360 degrees right from your mobile phone with the right DVR.
Most consumers buy there PTZ cameras from their installers who charge up to $2,000 per camera. You can save an awful amount of money buy purchasing the camera yourself but be forewarned, Make sure your installer has experience in installing PTZ cameras before he touches your camera. Not only can he accidentally damage the camera but if he’s charging you an hourly fee for installation you can be out of a lot of money while he’s learning how to install one on your dime.
